Participant Accident Insurance
Accidents arising out of participation in organization sponsored programs, can result in financial hardship, to the individual participating and injured, as well as the sponsoring organization itself, with the legally implicit responsibility attached to the activity offered. It becomes imperative for the group to provide proper medical coverage for its members and participants as well as General Liability coverage to protect the organization. We can design programs which will provide outstanding coverage and protect both you and your participants in the event of an accident.
Coverage includes:
- Coverage for participants, staff, counselors and coaches
- Fully Insured and Self-Insured Plan Designs
- Various Deductible levels, starting at $0 deductible
- Various Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Limits
- One, Two- or Three-Year Benefit Period Options
- Coverage to and from sponsored events, activities, or games
General Liability Insurance
Liability insurance for your league and organization is a must. We live in an extremely litigious society and must constantly protect ourselves against litigation as a result of our sponsored activities and programs. Entities which allow you to use their facilities (schools, towns, fraternal organizations and the like) also require that you be insured, and provide them with certificates of insurance with them as an “additional named insured”. For many years these entities required a $1,000,000 liability policy, but most are now requiring $2,000,000. Other areas in which you need protection, and hence, must be covered by the liability policy are host liquor liability; products liability; non-owned auto coverage; and the need for sexual molestation coverage.
Things To Be Careful of When Selecting Liability Coverage:
- Policy should be on “Occurrence” basis; NOT “CLAIMS MADE”—VERY IMPORTANT.
- Policy should have all coverages desired available, even if optional.
- Determine the level of accident insurance coverage required by the plan (liability policies require underlying accident insurance).
- Be sure that there is no athletic participation exclusion. VERY IMPORTANT!
Academic & Sport Camp, Clinic & Special Event Coverage
Participant Accident Insurance and General Liability Coverage for your camps and clinics as well as any special events you run, are essential coverages for the protection of your group or organization.
Insurance is Available for:
- Sports Camps & Clinics
- Academic Camps
- Special Events
Sports Refund Insurance
SportsRefund is NOT health insurance. Think of it as “Season Interruption Insurance.” As the popularity and duration of sports programs increases, so does the likelihood that your athlete will have his or her season interrupted due to illness or injury. This means, after paying money to the program—most of which offer no refunds—your family takes a real financial loss.
That is why we have partnered with SportsRefund, LLC. to create a one-of-a kind solution for this ever growing risk. It’s a simple and affordable way for individual athletes and athletic programs to offset the impact of an illness or injury that sidelines an athlete for weeks, months, or the entire season.
EXAMPLE
Sam Jones’ family pays $2,000 for a basketball program operating from November 1st through February 28th (120 days). Ten days after the season begins, Sam suffers an ankle sprain. With only 20 days left in the season, Sam returns to play. Even though he missed 90 days (or 75%) of the season, Sam’s family is still obligated to pay $2,000.
But if Sam’s family had SportsRefund – at a cost of about $60–they would receive a check for $1,500, representing 75% of the season’s total fees. Without SportsRefund, a family is still obligated to pay the full $2,000 program fee. For families with more than one child in sports, having this coverage per child is even more worthwhile.
*Premium calculations in our example are based on the sport and projected program fees. Premiums vary based on your athlete’s situation.
